Southeast Asia, joined up

Six countries, one coordinator. We plan private journeys that cross borders — and we keep the table of which crossings are open, which visa works at which gate, and which month suits which coast.

Asia Crossings

One trip, not six holidays.

Most people who come to Southeast Asia want more than one country, and then discover that the hard part is not choosing where to go — it is the joins. Which land border is open this month. Whether your e-visa is valid at the gate you picked. Whether the ferry, the slow boat and the domestic flight still connect in the order the blog said they did.

That is the part we do. Every route on this site is a private trip with a driver, a local guide in each country and one coordinator who plans it and stays with it until you fly home. The crossings, the visas, the internal flights and the timing between them are ours to get right.

Why Asia Crossings

What we are actually good at

The joins
Borders, ferries, slow boats and internal flights — sequenced so that one late arrival does not take the next three days with it.
The paperwork
Which visa works at which gate, which arrival form is compulsory, and what has to be filed before you fly.
The month you have
You rarely get to choose your dates. We choose the route that suits them instead of pretending every month is equal.
One person
The coordinator who plans your route is the one who answers when something changes at nine at night in Pakse.

Borders

Which crossings are open right now

We keep a single table of every land and river crossing between these six countries, with what each one means for your visa, and we write the date we last checked it. Two entries on it change routes more than anything else on this site: the Thailand – Cambodia border has been closed to tourists since June 2025, and the Lao e-visa is valid at nine ports only — none of them on the Vietnamese border.

  • Thailand – Cambodia: closed at every crossing. Bangkok to Siem Reap is a one-hour flight instead.
  • Vietnam – Cambodia: open at Moc Bai and Ha Tien, with different visa rules at each.
  • Vietnam – Laos: open, but the Lao e-visa is not valid — a visa on arrival is.
  • Thailand – Laos: open at three Friendship Bridges, and the slow boat to Luang Prabang starts at the fourth.
Checked 20 September 2026

The full table, with sources and the date of each check, is in our border guide.

How it works

Simple from the first message

  1. 01

    Tell us what you want

Where, when, who is travelling and what matters most.

  2. 02

    We design the route

Including the joins — which border, which flight, which day of slack.

  3. 03

    Refine it together

Adjust stops, hotels and pace until it fits. Re-quoted each time, itemised.

  4. 04

    Travel with local support

Guides and drivers briefed before you arrive; your coordinator on hand throughout.

Seasons

Every month works somewhere

Three means the month usually works everywhere in that region, two means it works with a plan, one means rain, heat or sea conditions will shape your days. No month is closed to all six countries: when the Mekong is in flood, Bali and the Philippines are at their driest.

This is the table we plan from. There is no month in which all six countries are at their best, and no month in which none of them is. If your dates are fixed — and they usually are — the route moves to suit them.

Common questions

Questions travellers ask most

Are the packages fixed?

No. Each one is priced for what it includes, and every day of it can be changed. Ask for the changes you want and we re-quote, itemised.

Do you run group departures?

No. You travel with the people you choose, on your own dates, with your own guide and driver.

Can you handle the visas?

We tell you exactly which visa your route needs at which gate, what has to be filed before you fly, and when. The applications themselves are made in your own name on the official portals — we will not hand your passport details to a third-party agent.

What if a border closes while we are travelling?

It happens — the Thai – Cambodian border closed at short notice in 2025 and is still shut. Routes that cross a border are planned with an air alternative, and your coordinator rebooks rather than leaving you to find out at the gate.
